Big car bomb blast rattles Syria's Aleppo, killing scores

An explosive-laden car went off in Syria's northern province of Aleppo on Sunday evening, leaving scores of people killed and injured, Xinhua reported citing the state-TV.

The TV said the blast rocked the Malaab al-Baladi area, adding that it was big and that bodies of women and kids were buried under rubbles.

The TV said the blast left a big crater and rocked the city.

Meanwhile, the oppositional Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said several explosions rocked the Aleppo neighborhoods of Bustan al-Qasr, al-Feyd, al-Zahra' and al- Jamiliya on Sunday, adding that government forces have bombarded a number of restive neighborhoods in Aleppo. It, however, said that there have been no reports of casualties yet.

Aleppo has emerged as a stage for pitch battles between government troops and armed rebels, who have pledged to keep fighting in Aleppo to bring it down under their control.
