Kiprono Cheruiyet claimed a course record as Kenya totally dominated the Frankfurt Marathon on Sunday.
Cheruiyot shook off his last rivals in the closing stages of the 42.195-kilometres race to win in 2 hours 7 minutes 23 seconds. He bettered the course record of three-time winner Wilfred Kigen by 37 seconds.
Wilson Kigen came second in 2:07:58 and Stephen Kiogora was third in 2:08:20. Kenyan runners occupied the first 14 places and had 17 runners in the top 20.
The women's race was won by Irina Mockenhaupt of Germany in 2:26.22 hours.
