Turkey detains 130 people as a result of antiterrorist operations

On Monday, Turkish security forces detained 130 people suspected of involvement in several terror acts and supporting terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) during regular large-scale antiterrorist operations in 6 cities of the country, TRT Haber TV channel reported.

Earlier it was reported that 10 people were arrested in Istanbul, while another 10 - in Gaziantep.

PKK militants regularly organize terror acts against civilians and the country's security forces.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has been on-going for more than 25 years, claiming over 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by both the UN and the EU.

PKK militants have previously threatened the Turkish authorities with intensified armed conflict if concrete steps are not taken to address the long-term Kurdish problem.
