Some 99 illegal immigrants have been detained in the northwestern Turkish province of Canakkale, the Turkish news agency Anadolu said May 25.
Some 80 detainees are citizens of Syria, and the rest are the citizens of Afghanistan.
Previously, 330 illegal immigrants who were trying to go to Italy were detained in Turkey's Mersin province in the country's south-west.
Moreover, illegal immigrants were previously detained on a fishing vessel under the flag of Togo.
Moreover, four Turkish citizens involved in dispatching the illegal immigrants to Italy, were detained.
