Baku, Azerbaijan, Aug.1

By Orkhan Guluzade – Trend:

A curfew has been imposed in Semdinli city of Turkey’s Hakkari province, the Sabah newspaper reported Aug.1.

The decision on imposing a curfew was adopted as part of the large-scale operations against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist group. The curfew will last till Aug.4.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives. The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
