Turkey names its envoy to Russia

Huseyin Lazip Dirioz has been appointed Turkey’s ambassador to Russia, the Resmi Gazete newspaper reported Oct. 14.
Earlier, former Turkish ambassador to Russia Umit Yardim confirmed that he will leave his position in the coming months.
Huseyin Lazip Dirioz is one of the most experienced Turkish diplomats. He first joined the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978 and served in Kabul and Strasbourg before attending the NATO Defense College in Rome in 1987/88. He then returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a further year before joining the Turkish Delegation to NATO for four years.
Dirioz was Turkey’s ambassador in Jordan in 2004-2008 and has also served in Brazil since 2013.
