Turkish army preparing to fully surround Syrian Afrin's center

The Turkish armed forces are preparing for the complete encirclement of the center of the Syrian Afrin district, Turkish media reported on March 12 referring to military sources.

Reportedly, an area of 1,100 square kilometers in the Syrian district of Afrin were liberated terrorists as part of the Operation Olive Branch.

Today, the Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian Army, liberated five more settlements as part of the Operation Olive Branch in Syria’s Afrin,.

Turkish media reported that the Turkish Armed Forces and the FSA are located in the south-eastern part of the region, 1.5 kilometers from the center of Afrin.

Media reports that the PYD and YPG terrorists prevent the civilian population from leaving the city.

On Jan. 20, the Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian Army, launched the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.

Earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim announced that about 8,000-10,000 PYD/YPG terrorists are supposed to be hiding in Afrin.

Turkey began drawing its military to the Syrian border from late June 2017. The forces were being concentrated in Turkish Kilis Province bordering Syrian territory controlled by YPG/PYD.

On Aug. 24, 2016, Turkish Armed Forces, with the support of the Syrian opposition, launched the Euphrates Shield Operation against the IS militants and liberated the city of Jarabulus as well as the city of Al-Bab in northern Syria.
