Turkey reveals data on cargo movement through its Gemlik port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5

The volume of cargo movement via Turkish Gemlik port in Bursa province surpassed 3.8 million tons in the first four months of 2020, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

In the reporting period, 377,723 tons of cargo were shipped via the Gemlik port by ships flying the Turkish flag, while ships flying the flags of other countries moved over 3.4 million tons of cargo.

From January through April 2020, 16,013 tons of cargo was transited through this port.

In the first four months of 2020, the volume of cargo shipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 123.4 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag surpassed 9.6 million tons.

The volume of cargo movement via the Turkish ports by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 4.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries amounted to 108.8 million tons.

Over the reporting period, over 24.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

The volume of cargo movement through the Turkish ports amounted to more than 28.8 million tons in April 2020.

In the reporting month, the volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying their countries' flags amounted to 2.2 million tons, while cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries amounted to 25.6 million tons.

The ministry said that more than 6.5 million tons of cargo was transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in April 2020.
