Turkey's export to Turkic-speaking countries grew by 4.5 percent from January through July 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, having exceeded $2.8 billion, Turkey’s Ministry of Trade told Trend on Sept. 3.
During the reporting period, Turkish exports to Turkic-speaking countries amounted to 3.2 percent of the country’s total export for 2020.
The export of Turkey to Turkic-speaking countries declined by 8.6 percent in July 2020 compared to the same month of 2019, slightly exceeding $458.4 million.
“In July, Turkish exports to Turkic-speaking countries amounted to 3.1 percent of the country’s total export for July 2020,” the ministry said.
According to the ministry, in the first 7 months of 2020, Turkey’s import from Turkic-speaking countries was by 16.8 percent less than in the same period of last year and made up slightly over $1.6 billion.
“Turkish imports from Turkic-speaking countries amounted to 1.4 percent of the country’s total import from January through July 2020,” the ministry also noted.
In July 2020, Turkey’s imports from Turkic-speaking countries dipped by 15.6 percent compared to July 2019, has amounted to $259.7 million.
“Import from Turkic-speaking countries amounted to 1.5 percent of Turkey's total import for July 2020,” added the ministry.
Turkey’s foreign trade turnover made up $32.8 billion in July this year.
Meanwhile, Turkey's exports declined by 5.8 percent compared to the same month of 2019, amounting to $15.1 billion.
Imports to Turkey in July 2020 rose by 7.9 percent over the year and exceeded $17.7 billion.
From January through July 2020, Turkey's trade turnover amounted to over $206.7 billion, while the country's export value was 13.7 percent less than in the same period of 2019, making up $90.1 billion, the ministry said.
In the first 7 months of this year, Turkey's imports declined by 3.9 percent compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to $116.6 billion.
The foreign trade turnover of Turkey in 2019 made up $374.2 billion.
