Turkey records notable growth in number of driven vehicles

The number of vehicles which are used in Turkey grew by 105.4 percent in January 2021 compared to the same month of last year, having amounted to 117,313 vehicles, Trend reports on Feb. 23 referring to Turkey’s Institute of Statistics (TUIK).

According to TUIK, the share of cars in the total number of vehicles in Turkey made up 54.3 percent, vans and trucks – 16.3 percent, motorcycles – 14.5 percent, and tractors – 8.1 percent. The remaining 6.8 percent accounted for other vehicles.

Turkey ranks sixth in Europe in car production. Ford, Fiat, Renault, Toyota, Honda, Opel, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and MAN are assembled in Turkey. Turkey also manufactures local brands of buses such as BMC, Temsa and Otokar.
