Over 6.1 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the Turkish Mersin port from January through April 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
"The ships flying the Turkish flag through the Antalya port transported 139,566 tons of cargo while ships flying the flags of other countries – over 5.96 million tons," the ministry said.
“At the same time, more than 4.11 million tons of goods were handled in transit via Mersin port,” the ministry added.
Thus, 124.9 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021.
Around 9.8 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag through the local ports. About 115.1 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the flags of other countries through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021.
Moreover, 24.5 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period. In general, 33.8 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in April 2021.
Furthermore, 2.7 million tons of cargo were transported by the ships flying the Turkish flag in April 2021. At the same time, 31.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports by the ships flying the flags of other countries.
Thus, 6.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in April 2021.
