Turkish Istanbul airport shares data on cargo turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. Istanbul International Airport of Turkiye had a cargo turnover of 926,029 tons in May 2022, 91 percent increase from May 2021, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

The airport’s local cargo turnover was 70,680 tons during the period (an increase of 69 percent compared with May 2021), and international cargo turnover of 855,349 tons (an increase of 94 percent).

Passenger traffic at the airport was 21.5 million people, which is 1.3 times higher than in May 2021. At the same time, passenger traffic on local flights amounted to 5.5 million people (1.2 times growth), on international flights – 16.01 million people (1.3 times growth).

According to the ministry, the number of flights performed in May 2022 was 151,328, which is 87 percent more than in May 2021. At the same time, the number of flights performed on local lines was 39,407 (an increase of 89 percent), and on international lines - 111,921 (an increase of 87 percent).

Passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey amounted to 56.9 million people in May 2022, and cargo turnover – 1.3 million tons.

Passenger traffic at all airports of Turkey amounted to 128.3 million people at the end of last year, and cargo turnover – 3.3 million tons.
