BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 20. The cargo transshipment through the Port of Iskenderun of Türkiye amounted to 39.8 million tons from January through August 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye said, Trend reports citing TurkicWorld.
According to the ministry, 836,435 tons have been handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, while 39.01 million tons have been transshipped by ships under the flags of other countries.
"In the reporting period, the Iskenderun port delivered 732,578 tons of transit cargo," the ministry said.
Turkish ports handled 264.6 million tons of freight from January through August 2022.
Ships under the Turkish flag transshipped 18.9 million tons of cargo, whereas ships under the flags of other countries – 245.69 million tons.
Moreover, during this period, Turkish ports transferred 54.039 million tons of transit cargo.
