(Cihan) - Turkey said on Thursday it would send 100,000 dollars in aid to the Solomon Islands following an earthquake and tsunami that killed at least 32 people and left thousands homeless.

The foreign ministry said the aid was in response to a call for urgent international assistance issued by the Honaria government after the 8.0-magnitude quake and tsunami devastated western parts of the impoverished South Pacific archipelago on Monday.

More than 5,000 people were left homeless and the threat of disease has raised fears of a humanitarian crisis.More than 5,000 people were left homeless and the threat of disease has raised fears of a humanitarian crisis.
