Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Dec. 11
By Huseyn Hasanov- Trend:
Turkmenistan is completing the East-West gas pipeline construction, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said Dec.11.
The pipeline, which is to be 773 kilometers long, will have a capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually.
Welding, installation work has been completed and tests for strength and tightness of the pipeline have been carried out within the framework of the construction.
The pipeline, which is to run between the cities of Shatlyk and Belek, is designed to deliver gas from largest deposits in Turkmenistan's eastern parts to other gas pipelines in the country, thus increasing volumes and safety of gas exports, and also serving for domestic gas supplies.
Natural fuel delivered through the pipeline will also become raw material for the enterprise for producing gasoline, which is under construction, factories for the production of agricultural fertilizers, and also will go to the gas turbine power plants built in Ahal velayat (region) of Turkmenistan.
Galkynysh - Turkmenistan's largest gas field - will serve as the main source for the East-West Gas Pipeline.
The pipeline can also be used to deliver Turkmen gas to Europe. The most optimal way to do this is to construct a 300-km long gas pipeline across the Caspian Sea to the coast of Azerbaijan, which can play a role of transit country for delivering Turkmen gas to Turkey, and from there to markets in Europe.
