The U.S. oil and gas company Chevron, together with USAID, provided financial support to organize the workshop "World Experience in Tourism Development and Its Application in Turkmenistan" in Ashgabat.

Junior Achievement Worldwide experts will present information and training materials designed specifically for the Turkmen tourism sector, and have been invited to the event to give lectures.

USAID Permanent Representative to Turkmenistan Ashley Moretz said the United States "is proud of its contribution to the Turkmen tourism industry's development," the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat reported.

"Today, tourism is one of the priority sectors of the economy. We believe the use of international experience will benefit the rapidly growing tourism sector," Chevron Nebitgaz BV Turkmenistan President Douglas Uchikura said.

The seminar aims to introduce Turkmen specialists with world tourism development experience. The seminar is based on the international training program "Travel and Tourism" for teachers and young professionals working in the tourism industry.

Since 1992, USAID has rovided approximately $90 million to programs supporting economic growth, social sector and community initiatives in Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan is implementing a major project to build the Avaza tourist complex on the Caspian coast, which has been declared a free economic zone.
