Iran hopes that it would be able to make and distribute Euro 4 gas oil in about one year, a recent report says.

Currently there are five projects that are being developed for the production of Euro 4 gas oil in Iran, the Oil Ministry’s Shana news agency reported October 17.

Bandar Abbas oil refinery is currently undergoing improvement changes and is expected to start producing 16 mlpd of Euro 4 gas oil by the end of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20).

Also, Persian Gulf Star complex’s gas oil unit is expected to come on stream soon to produce 4.5 mlpd of Euro 4 gas oil.

This will nearly double Iran’s Euro 4 gas oil output, from 26 to 47 mlpd. Thus, it is hoped that by next Iranian year, Euro 4 gas oil can be distributed across the country.

There are three other projects of Tabriz, Isfahan, and Abadan which are expected to be completed in three years, adding another 44 mlpd of Euro 4 gas oil to the output.

Iran managed to reduce its gas oil consumption by 9 percent to make it reach 72.5 mlpd since the beginning of the current Iranian year. 40 mlpd of the consumed amount is sued in the transport sector and the rest mainly in power generation.

The reduction in consumption came by first replacing gas oil at power plants with natural gas and second by streamlining distribution to the transportation sector.
