Azerbaijan, Baku, March 14/ Trend, T.Hajiyev /

The Dashgil and Ayrantoken mud volcanoes in the Azerbaijani settlement of Alat have become more active, the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry told Trend.

The ministry is closely studying the Shikhzeyirli mud volcano eruptions that began on March 13 in the Gobustan region, the ministry said.

During their studies, the ministry has recorded large clefts on the volcano's surface as a result of the explosion.

During the eruption, the flame reached 60-70 meters.

Residential homes are located approximately 600-700 meters from the volcano.

At present, gas is being discharged in various places on the volcano. The volcano last erupted in 2005. However, this eruption was accompanied by a much louder explosion.
