The internet market in the regions of Azerbaijan is growing exponentially, Marketing Manager of Smart Systems Technology Subhan Garagezov told Trend.
According to Garagezov, the quarterly growth of the number of connections in the regions, including the remote settlements of the republic is at 25-30 per cent.
"The Internet is firmly embedded in the daily lives of citizens aided by the emergence of e-services, Internet payment services and other user-generated content. The 'digital divide' that exists between major cities and towns for many years will be virtually eliminated if such growth continues," Garagezov said.
Smart Systems Technology Company is involved in the Aztelekom Production Association (PO) project for the development of broadband services. Today, the company has its own optic infrastructure in some regions of Azerbaijan.
According to Aztelekom, the penetration rate of broadband Internet in the service area exceeds 20 per cent.
The number of broadband Internet users in the production association network has increased by 19 per cent since the beginning of the year. Currently, the number of broadband connections within the network exceeds 136,000.
The production association has laid 224 kilometres of fibre optic cable lines since the beginning of the year.
