Azerbaijan to host European Games perfectly well, says Alexander Rahr
Baku, Azerbaijan, May 15
By Jamila Aliyeva - Trend:
Azerbaijan already has experience in holding major international events, so the country will successfully hold the upcoming European Games as well, Alexander Rahr, a well-known German political scientist and analyst told Trend May 15.
"Azerbaijan perfectly well represented itself during the previous events," said Rahr. "The country has means and skills to host this event and I don't see any problems in this regard."
The more positively Azerbaijan approves itself not only for Europe, but also for the world, the better it will be for the country's image, he added.
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
