BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 14. Cotton harvesting in Azerbaijan is predicted to expand during the next four years, hence supporting the development of this sector of the country's agricultural sector, Trend reports via forecasts from the government on the country's socio-economic development.
The development of planting areas, attractive cotton buying prices, and agricultural subsidies will allow for growth.
Taking into consideration boosting measures and ideal meteorological circumstances, Azerbaijan may harvest 327,500 tons of raw cotton in 2024, 330,900 tons in 2025, 333,200 tons in 2026, and 336,800 tons in 2027.
According to data from Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee, 168,900 tons of cotton were gathered in the first ten months of 2023 from a total planting area of 72,100 hectares. The average cotton production was 23.4 centners per hectare (c/ha).
During the cotton season in 2022, 322,300 tons of conditioned product were gathered from the fields. The average cotton yield was 30.92 c/ha.
