On Feb. 27, the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University hosted a ceremony dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the Khojali genocide. The event was initiated by Azerbaijani students of the university.
The participants paid tribute to the memory of martyrs by a minute's silence.
First Vice-Rector of the University, Professor Dr. Ugur Oral said that history has no second such tragedy as the Khojali Genocide.
"The Armenians tried to wipe out the culture, history, and residents of Khojali. Today, we must tell the young people about the history of the genocide. I have no doubt that justice will prevail," he said.
Representatives of Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyrgyzstan and students recited poems and spoke about Khojali victims.
A special issue of the Vatan (Motherland) newspaper about the Khojali Genocide was distributed to the participants.
