Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 January / A search for the pilots and the black box of the crashed fighter jet MIG-29 showed no results.

The fighter jet MIG-29 of the Air Forces of Azerbaijan crashed during training near the Shurabad Khizi settlement on 29 January. The search for both pilots on board the fighter jet, Fakhraddin Asgarov and Afgan Aslanov is ongoing. The search was underway through the night, but was impeded due to unstable weather conditions and strong wind, Ilgar Verdiyev, an employee in the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, said to Trend on 31 January.

According to the Defence Ministry, all forces were mobilized in search operations. The Military Prosecutor's Office filed a criminal case in this connection. The cause of the incident is being investigated.

According to international standards, Ukraine may send specialists to Azerbaijan to investigate the cause of the crash, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry said to Trend. However, in order to do that Azerbaijan has to apply to Ukraine and to prove that the crashed fighter jet was produced in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan said to Trend.
