The Ambassador said five Presidents from the Caspian littoral stases, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan are expected to take part in the summit.

The 23rd meeting of Special Working Group on development of Convention on Legal Status of the Caspian Sea will be held in Baku on 4 September. The meeting this Special Group of five littoral countries ( Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan) was originally scheduled to be held on 23-24 July, but was postponed because of technical reasons until September of the current year.

The key stumbling block in this issue is the position of Iran who still insists on 20% of surface and bottom of the Caspian.
