It is too early to speak about the change of the NATO position toward Russia with coming of the new administration in the White House, Russian permanent representative to NATO Dmitry Rogozin said.
"It is early to say that the U.S. has already reviewed its plans toward Russia, but we expect that this will happen," Rogozin said to Trend in a telephone conversation from Brussels.
The talks to defreeze the relations between Russia and the NATO were started in Brussels in the mid of December. Russian and NATO representatives have agreed a road map - a plan to resume the bilateral relations that were damaged after the war in Georgia in August.
The new appointed officials are still adapted to tasks put forward by Barack Obama in the White House, Department of State and Department of Defence.
"Although many pre-election promises, as a rule, are not delivered, we hope that the new American President will avoid distance between his business and promises," Rogozin said.
Russia waits when the U.S. will officially give up its plans to allocate provocative anti missile defence system next to the Russian borders.
"We hope that the U.S. will stop pushing the NATO to expand its engagement in the east due to its former allies and create new radical lines in Europe. We hope that the U.S. will understand that one should take into account in international affairs not only its own interests, but to see that other countries may also have their own interests," Rogozin said.
