Kazakh Education and Science Minister Zjanseit Tymebayev blames parents and students for weak education level in universities.

"Education in Kazakhstan is a competitive environment. There are parents and students who need only a diploma, but not education. If they will not enter weak universities, then those universities will be shut down," Tymebayev said at the 8th meeting of the Anti Corruption Committee of the Popular Democratic Party Nur Otan.

Over 200 education centres and 76 branches were closed after monitoring in Kazakhstan over the last years.

"The Ministry canceled licenses of those education centres, which did not meet international standards. However, most of them still continue functioning. We appealed to local administrations to take adjusted measures. The Ministry will fail to remove the problem alone," Tymebayev said.
