Opposition public forum in Azerbaijan has prepared a special program to improve the society activity in the municipal elections.

"We have reached several agreements on the support of candidates from the youth organizations and candidates from regional communities in the municipal elections," head of the Public Forum for Azerbaijan Eldar Namazov told Trend on June 10.

Municipal elections in Azerbaijan will be held in December this year and parliamentary elections - the autumn of 2010. Up to now, municipal elections were conducted in 1999 and 2004.

Namazov said that the forum brings together well-known intellectuals, former government officials and other prominent public figures. "Accordingly, the number of our candidates for municipal elections will be small," said the head of the forum.

According to Namazov, the special program envisages support for candidates of many opposition parties. "The purpose of the support of youth organizations is to increase their role in the political processes in the Republic," he said.
