Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today attended a solemn ceremony to mark the 65th anniversary of the victory over fascism in the World War II, the AzerTaj state news agency reported.
The President was warmly welcomed by war veterans and residents of the capital Baku in front of a monument to Major-General Hazi Aslanov, twice Hero of the Soviet Union. The President greeted the veterans and congratulated them on the Victory day.
The Head of State laid a wreath at the monument, and posed for photographs together with the veterans.
The President then chatted with family members of Hazi Aslanov.
Among the participants of the event were Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, Speaker Ogtay Asadov, Chief of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev and other officials.
