Opposition parties will announce the establishment of an new electoral bloc next week ahead of November's parliamentary poll in Azerbaijan, the Popular Front Party has said.

"An announcement about the establishment of the bloc of opposition parties [to include] the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan and Musavat will be made next week," the chairman for political affairs of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Fuad Gahramanli, told Trend.

"Agreements about 80 constituencies have been already made. Some serious meetings and discussions will be held this week. But candidates for other constituencies have not been agreed yet [so] we cannot announce the formation of the bloc. It will happen next week - on Monday or Tuesday," Gahramanli said.

Musavat Party head Isa Gambar proposed an initiative to unite with the Popular Front Party at an event to mark the 21st anniversary of the Popular Front Party on July 15. The two organizations have been negotiating the matter since then.

Gahramanli said that the negotiations have been constructive.

"We want to nominate single candidates for 80 or 90 constituencies for the campaign to cover the majority of the country and all categories of the population," he said.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies.

The election campaign kicks off next week.
