Georgia, Tbilisi, April 7 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /

The Georgian side has requested from Malaysia a case of two Georgian women - Babutsa Darejan Kohtashvili and Babutsa Gordadze accused of drug trafficking, Georgian Deputy Chief Prosecutor David Sakvarelidze, who returned from Malaysia, told Trend.

In particular, the Georgian side inquired about at what stage the case of the Georgian women is and whether it is possible to replace the death penalty with life imprisonment.

"We will again raise this issue. Their legislation envisages the death penalty. We asked them to be indulgent to our citizens. Today the situation is dire. We can not say that they fulfill all our requests, but we maintain close contacts with them," Sakvarelidze said.

David Sakvarelidze held talks in Malaysia on behalf of Georgia. He returned to Tbilisi on April 6.
Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri will send a special letter to his Malaysian counterpart to release Kohtashvili and Gordadze.

Darejan Kohtashvili and Babutsa Gordadze are accused of exporting drugs hidden in the frames of paintings. Both may face the death penalty.

They don't plead guilty. Eldar Davitiani, Babutsa Gordadze's husband, who came to police and assumed all blame, confirms it.
