Moldova sees Azerbaijan as strategic partner - ambassador

Moldova sees Azerbaijan as a strategic partner, the ambassador of Moldova to Azerbaijan, Igor Bodiu, said.

"Our countries and peoples are tied by feelings of friendship and mutual respect. The two countries have great potential for successful cooperation in economic field, particularly in the energy sector", the ambassador said Friday, speaking at an official reception in honour of the anniversary of Moldova's independence. According to Bodiu, there are also good opportunities for business relations and trade.

The ambassador said the legal basis between the two countries consists of 52 treaties and agreements. The two countries are also working in international organizations such as the EU, OSCE, GUAM and BSEC, he said.

"Moldova, as a country which has undergone separatism, supports the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan", said the ambassador.

The Ecology and Natural Resources Minister of Azerbaijan Huseyngulu Bagirov who participated in the event congratulated the Moldovan people's on national holiday and wished the country prosperity.
