The first meeting of the Women's Wing of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) has started in Baku.
"Thanks to efforts of Azerbaijan, the Women's Wing was established, and today we are holding its first meeting," the ICAPP founder Jose de Venecia said at the meeting.
According to him, the ICAPP Youth Organization was also founded through efforts of the political leadership of Azerbaijan. The International Conference has a lot of expectations from the Women's Wing, he said.
"Asian Women must lead in solving problems of poverty, terrorism, corruption as well as environmental problems," he said.
Jose de Venecia said the purpose of the organization was to create the European wing of the ICAPP through Turkey.
Political participation of women in politics will bring new insights, Deputy Chairman-Executive Secretary of Azerbaijan's ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) Ali Ahmadov said at the event.
"With the growth of women's participation in politics, it will acquire more humane nature. Women have never opposed anyone, they unite around common human issues. The world may avoid many wars due to women's participation in politics," Ahmadov said.
Establishment of the ICAPP Women's Wing will introduce innovation to the work of the organization, he said.
According to Ahmadov, Azerbaijani women are engaged in social and political activities.
The organizing committee of the ICAPP Women's Wing will create at the regular meeting the structured organized women's union which will contribute to increasing the participation of women in the political life of Asia.
After Azerbaijan's accession to the ICAPP, it began to advance its initiatives, the vice-speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Bahar Muradova said at a meeting. Establishment of the women's ICAPP Women's Wing in Azerbaijan is no coincidence, she said.
The Women's Wing possesses broad framework for action and may move towards the future with great potential, Muradova said.
"The struggle for peace, prosperity and tranquility is the responsibility of every woman," Muradova said.
The ICAPP Youth Festival will also be held this summer in Azerbaijan, the vice-speaker said.
Azerbaijani women work in various government agencies and business structures, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Issues Hijran Huseynova said in her speech. Women's participation in decision-making, government bodies is currently increasing in Azerbaijan, she said. Huseynova said the level of women's participation in each country depends on their education.
