Turkish police dispersed a group of people in Ankara and Hatay province who were protesting against the death of demonstrator Ahmet Atakan during the protest actions of September 9, CNN Türk reported on Monday.

According to the TV channel, several people were injured as a result of clashes between protestors and the police. .

Earlier, Turkish Interior Minister Muammer Guler said the police were not involved in Ahmed Atakan's death.

Those dissatisfied with the policy of the ruling Justice and Development Party took part in protest actions in the Antakya region of the Turkish Hatay province on September 9. There were clashes between the country's security forces and demonstrators during which Ahmet Atakan died.

Protests had been taking place in Turkey for nearly three weeks. According to the authorities they were anti-government.

As a result of the unrest in Turkey nearly 4000 people were injured with varying severity, five died and 4900 were detained by the police.
