Iran appoints new ambassador to Azerbaijan

Iran’s Foreign Ministry appointed Javad Jahangirzadeh as the Islamic Republic’s new ambassador to Azerbaijan.

The Islamic Republic’s seven new ambassadors including Jahangirzadeh met with President Hassan Rouhani Aug. 28, prior to departing to the country of their mission, the official website of the Iranian president reported.

The 50-year-old Jahangirzadeh, who will replace the country's former envoy to Baku Mohsen Pak Ayeen, was born in Urmia city, Iran’s West Azerbaijan province. He has PhD in political sociology.

Jahangirzadeh was a member of the 7th, 8th and 9th parliament from the electorate of Urmia.

He served as deputy head of the Parliament Research Center from June 2012 to May 2016.
