Baku Principles for integration of SDGs at national level adopted
Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 26
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
The Baku Principles on the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the national level and the acceleration of their implementation have been adopted at the Baku Forum on Sustainable Development.
When applying the Mainstreaming, Acceleration, Policy Support (MAPS) platform, presented by the UN Development Group to support the implementation of the SDGs, it is recommended to build on the experience of Azerbaijan, which started from the MAPS mission of May-June 2017.
The Baku Principles also contain information not only about paying attention to the integration of the SDGs and accelerating their implementation, but also about financing the Goals and preparing reports on their implementation.
The Baku Principles recognize that the integration of the SDGs and the acceleration of their implementation is a long-term process, and stipulate a long-term and consistent cooperation from both Azerbaijan and the UN.
Held under the slogan “Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development”, the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum that kicked off Oct. 25 brings together 581 delegates from 86 countries and 24 international organizations.
