Third round of Azerbaijani-Armenian talks may be held by year-end - FM

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 5. Azerbaijan has prepared a draft agreement on a peaceful settlement and presented it to Armenia, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a press conference with his Russian colleague Sergey Lavrov said on December 5 in Moscow, Trend reports.

According to the minister, Azerbaijan has always consistently advocated for the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations on the basis of the principles and norms of international law, with due regard for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries.

"We believe that the UN Charter and the Almaty Declaration of 1991 are a good basis for moving forward. By that logic, Azerbaijan prepared a draft agreement based on five basic principles and presented it to the Armenian side. After that, two rounds of talks were held. The third set of comments from the Azerbaijani side has already been submitted to the Armenian side. We think it is possible to hold the third round of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the draft peace treaty before the end of this year," Bayramov said.

He added that, despite the positive dynamics in the negotiation process, progress is limited on all tracks.

"I am referring to the issue of discussing a peace treaty, and the opening of communications, as well as the issue of the delimitation of the state border," the minister noted.
