BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 8. Uzbekistan considers Azerbaijan a key partner in the South Caucasus, Deputy Director of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies Sherzod Fayziyev said, Trend reports.
He made the remark during the round table on the topic "Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan: new horizons of cooperation."
According to him, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev's political activities have greatly enhanced the country's worldwide authority.
"Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan work closely on trade, economic, and transportation projects. We are confident that our collaboration will only grow," he said.
Uzbekistan has great investment potential, Fayziyev added.
"I believe that Uzbekistan will be able to attract about $170 billion to its economy in the future. It is great that Azerbaijan is interested in the development of the Central Asian region, and we will discuss these opportunities," he added.
In 2022, Azerbaijan invested $12 million in Uzbekistan's economy.
