BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Colombia Luis Gilberto Murillo within the framework of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said, Trend reports.
The meeting emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres over the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Jeyhun Bayramov noted the importance of mutual high-level visits, the mechanism of political consultations, as well as strengthening interagency relations in priority sectors.
The parties also discussed the prospects for developing cooperation within the framework of international organizations, noting that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which Azerbaijan is hosting this year, creates favorable opportunities for new areas of partnership, and in this context, Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with Colombia.
Jeyhun Bayramov also informed about the new realities that have emerged in the region after the restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, large-scale restoration and construction work in the territories liberated from occupation, as well as the process of normalization and peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on new areas of cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
