INVESTMENTS IN REAL SECTOR

In January to April 2006 a total of 1,668,2m new manats has been invested in the Azerbaijani economy, which is 11.3% up as compared to the amount of investments put in 2005.

According to the State Statistics Committee, 1315.2m manats ($78.8m) has been invested at the expense of internal sources, those under public property 353m manats (21.2%).

The investments put at the repair and construction work rose 9.4% and made up 822.9m manats.

Special weight of foreign investments comprised 1086.2bn manats ($65.1m), whereas internal investments in the total amount of investments was 34.9%, or 582m manats (55% up as compared to last year)

116.3m manats has been put in the construction of facilities, financed at the expense of budget funds, or 5.6 times more than last year. 96.5% of all investments was directed at construction and repair work. In compliance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 8 February 2006 it is planned to allocate 611m AZN for the implementation of construction work at the expense of the budget funds.

Major investing sources in January to April 2006 were enterprises an organizations (1294.5m -77.6% of all investments), bank credits (144.7m manats - 8.7%), budget funds (125.1m manats 7.5%), non-budget funds (31.1m manats 1.9%), community funds (58.4m AZN 3.5%),and others (14.4m manats 0.8%).
