Azerbaijani Citizen Taken Prisoner by Armenians Sends Letter to Family

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / A resident of the region of Gazakh in Azerbaijan, Binnatov Masim, who was taken prison by the Armenians, has sent a letter to his family.

Binnatov's sister, Aybaniz Binnatova, said Masim asked her, in his letter, to take care of his daughter and son, and said that he was in Armenia.

The Armenian military took Masim Binnatov, 33, a resident of the village Shikhli of the region of Gazakh in Azerbaijan, prisoner on 5 November.

According to Aybaniz, the International Committee of the Red Cross guaranteed the life of Masim but did not promise his release in the near future.

The Azerbaijani representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported that ICRC Armenian officials met with Binnatov.

The State Committee has been holding an investigation over the incident. The Committee undertakes measures to release the captured.

Samir Mammadov passed his military service at the Military Unit in the district of Gazakh of Azerbaijan bordering Armenia. He was captured by Armenians 15 km from his Military Unit where the Gazakh District of Azerbaijan borders with Ijevan District of Armenia on December 23, 2006. He was not armed. Up to now, the Azerbaijani soldier has been kept in Yerevan.
