Azerbaijani Education Minister Divulges His Position on Logman Medical College

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 June / corr. Trend E. Babayev/ The Minister of Education of Azerbaijan stated that the students of the illegally functioning Logman medial college will not be transfered to other educational institutions. "The Ministry of Education does not plan to transfer these students who illegally studied in this medical college and other institutions," Misir Mardanov, the minister of education of Azerbaijan stated on 10 June.

In 2007, the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan filed a criminal case into the illegal admission of students to Logman medical college. A criminal case has been filed into the misuse of the authorities in line with the Article 308.1 of the Penal Code on the basis of the request of the Ministry of Education.

The admission of students to the medical departments of the private higher schools has been banned by the Ministry of Education.

The students of Logman medical college which was closed down by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers two years ago will not be able to further their education in the state-owned education institutions.

Logman medical college functioned illegally which admitted some 2,000 students during until its closure.

According to Mardanov, the medical college is responsible for the removal of the students from the education. "The Ministry of Education does not have any judicial documents and agreement on the activities of Logman medical college," minister said. According to minister, today there are no illegally functioning private educational institutions in Azerbaijan.
