Azerbaijani Private Universities to Continue Illegal Student Admission: Commission Chairman

Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 June / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / Maleyka Abbaszade, Chairman of the State Commission on Student Admission (SCSA) of Azerbaijan, stated to journalists that private Universities continue their illegal students' admissions.

According to the Chairman, under the Bill on 'Education', which had been in force till 2004, private Universities, could admit students by their own worked out tests. "Under the presidential order in 2004, this point was excluded from the Bill," Abbaszade said.

About 100 inquiries have been submitted to the Commission from the Military Commissariat regarding the students from private Universities. "These students had been admitted to Universities not by the State Commission and this process is underway," Abbaszade said.

SCSA has informed the authorities about the illegal students' admission by private Universities. "SCSA are not empowered to tackle this problem. All the necessary documents have been submitted to corresponding departments and Ministries to investigate these facts," Abbaszade stated.
