"The defeat of the team in the reply match of the first stage is because of the traumas of the players. The most important is that Neftch got into the next stage which it could achieve as a result of two matches. If we can not win over the Belgian Jerminal team in the second stage, we will not consider it tragedy," Ilgar Guluzade, vice president of the club said to Trend on 30 June.
The first match within the Intertoto cup Neftch-Nitra held in Baku ended with 2:0 in favor of Neftchi. Nitra won the reply match with 3:1 in Slovakia. However, a goal kicked in Slovakia secured access for the next round for Neftchi. Neftchi will meet with much more stronger rival, Jerminal from Belgium. The first match will take place in Belgium in five days.
According to Guluzade, the coaches of Neftchi could obtain information about the strength and style of Jerminal. "I can not say that we know a lot about the rival team. The fact that the match will be held in Belgium is an advantage for us. In the reply match we will be aware of the style of the rival team and it will help us to win," vice president said.
Recently Guluzade was appointed vice president of Neftchi club replacing the current president of the Professional Football League Ramin Musayev.
