Azerbaijani Citizen Appears before Court for Attempt to Sell Infant

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 October/corr. Trend K. Zarbaliyeva / Trial has been launched over Azerbaijani citizen, who wanted to sell his little son to foreigners at $10,000. 

A preliminary sitting on case of Andrey Agayev, presided by judge Amir Byramov, was held at the Court of Serious Crimes on October 3.

Employees of the central police department of Baku city arrested Andrey Agayev while he was attempting to sell his five-year-old son to a foreign citizen.

The police arrested foreigners, who bought the child and paid $10,000 to Agayev in his house, while they were taking away small Nikolay Osyamin.

Agayev confessed during the preliminary interrogation that he wanted to sell a child due to his bad financial position.

A criminal case was brought against Agayev in accordance with Article 144.3 of Criminal Code (human trafficking).

In preliminary sitting it was decided to conduct court examination of the case on October 6.
