Illegally sold wildlife confiscated in Azerbaijani regions

Representatives of the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry confiscated illegally sold wildlife in some regions of Azerbaijan.

The ministry revealed out the birds, which were included in the Red Book of Azerbaijani and the red list of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources during the raid in the Pirsaat café in Hajigabul region, the ministry said on July 31.

The ministry compiled a report on administrative violation towards Mahharram Rahimov. The confiscated animals were given to the Center of Wildlife Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Clinic under the National Park Altiagaj, the same source said.

The raids revealed two Caucasian brown bears kept in captivity in the restaurants Turist and Shamakhi of the Shamakhi region. The ministry compiled a report on Hasan Allahverdiyev and Huseyn Allahverdiyev. Two gazelle, which were included in the Red Book, were taken from Khan Bagy restaurant in the Baylagan region. The animals were confiscated and transferred to the National Park Ag gel. The ministry compiled a report on Habil Rustamov.

Wildlife trade is prohibited in Azerbaijan. Under the law, the sale of wild animals without evidence is fined by 200-300 manat (for individuals) and 3,000-5,000 manat (enterprises).
