No school building in a state of disrepair will be in Azerbaijan by 2013, Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov told journalists on Friday.
"The President gave a special order to solve this problem. Two days ago, a decree was signed pertaining to Baku and its settlements. In the coming days, we expect a decision on restoration throughout the country, rebuilding and overhaul repair of educational institutions," Mardanov said.
"There are about 600 schools in disrepair in the country. The number of kindergarten and vocational school buildings that are in disrepair is even higher," Mardanov said.
"The construction of new school buildings is nearing completion in the flood-affected regions. Construction work will be completed before the new academic year," he said.
