International Information Agency Trend has been awarded a special press prize of TURKSOY for his contribution to development of organization and wide spread of the Turkic culture in the world. Awarding ceremony took place at the headquarters of the TURKSOY General Secretariat in Ankara on Thursday.
"Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay presented TURKSOY Honorary Award in the press ("Matbuat uzra faxri mukafat") to Trend Deputy Director General Elchin Huseynov.
From Azerbaijan editor-in-chief of the "Turkistan" newspaper Aqil Jamal also received Honorary Award.
Along with Azerbaijan, journalists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Khakassia and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were awarded TURKSOY Prize for 2012. Editor-in-chief of the "Altin Korpu" magazine (Kyrgyzstan) Ramiz Mashadihasanli was also among prize winners.
The organization started its activity with the meeting of culture ministers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan in Istanbul in 2012. Later 8 more participants, including Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Altai, Gagauzia, Tuva, Sakha, Khakassia, TRNC joined them. TURKSOY main goals include the development and strengthening of relations between the Turkic-speaking countries in the sphere of culture and art, strengthening research in the study of ethnogenesis, history, language, literature, art and culture of Turkic-speaking peoples.
