Top managers of International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) paid a visit to Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) and met with Petroleum Engineering students.
It was attended by BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov and IADC delegation led by Association President Jason McFarland and comprised of Vice President for International Development Mike DuBose, Executive Vice President on Operational Integrity Mark Denkowski, Regional Representative for Middle East and Africa Hisham Zebian and Editor/Publisher of Drilling Contractor magazine Linda Hsieh.
Opening the meeting, Rector Elmar Gasimov highly praised activities carried out by the Association in Azerbaijan and the cooperation with the BHOS students. The social projects for students implemented by IADC are of utmost importance for their professional development, job experience and future career growth, he said.
IADC President Jason McFarland told about objectives and tasks of this international non-profit organization, which provides a forum for all oil and gas drilling industry stakeholders to connect, share knowledge, and develop solutions to critical issues. In his words, the Association’s primary areas of focus include advocating for sensible regulation, giving voice to the industry, improving safety and environmental protection.
Vice President Mike DuBose spoke about IADC educational programs for students that include training courses, workshops, conferences and visits to leading companies of the industry. Executive Vice President Mark Denkowski and Regional Representative for Middle East and Africa Hisham Zebian shared their professional experience and told about prospects of successful career for drilling engineers.
The meeting concluded with questions and answers session. During their visit, the guests also toured the campus and its educational, recreation and accommodation facilities.
The International Association of Drilling Contractors established in 1940 is dedicated to enhancing the interests of oil-and-gas and geothermal drilling contractors around the world. IADC’s vision is for the drilling industry to be recognized for its vital role in enabling the global economy and its high standards of safety, environmental stewardship and operational efficiency.
