BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 24. Azerbaijani gymnast Mikhail Malkin, the finalist of the Trampoline and Tumbling World Cup in Baku, told Trend he seeks to show ideal performance at domestic competitions.

"I executed what I had planned – the first and second combinations of elements in the qualification. Tomorrow, I will add complexity to both the first and second combinations, and I hope everything turns out ideally. Performing perfectly in my homeland is my desire. Within our team, there was internal competition because only two gymnasts from each country advance to the final. After my performance, I approached my teammates to support them and provide advice," noted the gymnast.

Speaking about competitors from other countries, Malkin emphasized that some gymnasts appeared weaker during training, but showcased good performances during the competition.

"During the competition, I didn't expect a gymnast from Portugal to execute a complex combination similar to what I perform. Perhaps fatigue and jet lag affected them during training, but also, during competitions, adrenaline rises, and it helps to perform well," he added.

In the qualification competitions in tumbling, Azerbaijani gymnasts Mikhail Malkin and Adil Hajizade advanced to the final of the World Cup.

The Trampoline and Tumbling World Cup is being held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku on February 23-25. Gymnasts from 32 countries are taking part in the event.
