Leader of Caucasus Muslims Invited to Vatican
The Apostolic Nuncio of the Vatican State to Azerbaijan, Claudio Gudjerotti, stated at a meeting with the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Department (CMD), Sheikh ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, that Sheikh ul-Islam has received an invitation to visit the Vatican, Trend reports with reference to the CMD.
Sheikh ul-Islam informed Gudjerotti of the religious situation in Azerbaijan; activities of the CMD, especially on Azerbaijani pilgrims, who have already started returning to the country, and a forthcoming conference, which will be attended by the heads of religious communities from many countries.
Gudjerotti highlighted the original religious situation in Azerbaijan: peaceful existence of various religious communities, which are very rarely observed in the world. Gudjerotti voiced his wish for Sheikh ul-Islam's visit to the Vatican for continuing the inter-religious talks which had started in 2004.
The meeting was also attended by the Rector of Ukrainian Catholic University, Boris Gudzyak, who invited Sheikh ul-Islam to make a speech at the Ukrainian Catholic University on the subject of the interaction of religious figures and various religious communities in Azerbaijan.
